William Henry Gates III KBE, GCIH, (Seattle, October 28, 1955) better known as Bill Gates, is a mogul, philanthropist and American author, best known for along with Paul Allen founded Microsoft, the largest and most known software company in the world in terms of market value.
Gates currently holds the position of non-executive chairman of Microsoft, and is regularly ranked as the richest person in the world, a position he occupied from 1995 to 2007 and in 2009. It is one of the pioneers in the personal computer revolution.
Gates was born into a middle class family in Seattle. His father, William H. Gates was an advocate of big business, and his mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, was a professor at Washington University and director of banks. Bill Gates and his two sisters, Libby and Kristanna, attended the best private schools in Seattle, his hometown, and Bill also participated in Scouting when still young. Bill Gates, was admitted to the prestigious Harvard University (1590 SATs getting the potential 1600) but abandoned the course in Mathematics and Law in the 3rd year to dedicate himself to Microsoft.
He worked at Taito with the development of basic software for gaming machines (arcade) to his 16 years. He also worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, UMASS, United States, when at 17, along with Paul Allen developed a software for reading tapes with information on vehicular traffic in a 8008 Intel chip. With this product, Gates and Allen created a company, Traf-O-Data, but customershave given up the business when they discovered the old owners .
